Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 ¼ cups (280g) all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and ½ teaspoon salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat 1 cup (227g) softened unsalted butter, ¾ cup (150g) packed brown sugar, and ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed for about 3-4 minutes until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in 2 large eggs, one at a time, followed by 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract until fully incorporated and smooth.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in 1 ½ cups Christmas M&Ms and, if using, ½ cup mini chocolate chips. Save a few for sprinkling on top before baking.
  7. Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded balls of dough about 2 inches apart on the baking sheets. Each scoop should be about 1 tablespoon (15g). Chill dough for 15 minutes if too soft.
  8. Bake for 9-11 minutes until edges are set and slightly golden but centers remain soft.
