Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup rolled oats (old-fashioned)
  • 1 medium ripe banana, mashed
  • ½ cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • Optional: pinch of ground cinnamon
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans
  • Optional: dollop of Greek yogurt

Instructions

  1. Mash 1 medium ripe banana with a fork until mostly smooth but with a few small lumps remaining.
  2. Stir in ½ cup rolled oats into the mashed banana, mixing well to coat evenly.
  3. Add ½ cup of your choice of milk and stir thoroughly to combine.
  4. If desired, add a pinch of ground cinnamon or ½ teaspoon vanilla extract and mix gently.
  5. Cover the bowl or jar tightly and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  6. Before eating, stir the oats to fluff them up; add a splash of milk if too thick.
  7. Add toppings such as chopped nuts, a sprinkle of cinnamon, or nut butter if desired.
  8. Serve cold straight from the jar or bowl and enjoy.

Notes

Use old-fashioned rolled oats for best texture. Mash banana well for creamy texture. Adjust milk amount before eating for preferred consistency. Store leftovers in fridge up to 3 days; stir and add milk before eating. Freezing not recommended.
