A quick and easy creamy guacamole recipe that delivers restaurant-quality texture and bold, fresh flavors. Perfect for any occasion, this dip is a crowd-pleaser with a silky smooth yet slightly chunky texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 small tomato, seeded and diced
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion
  • 12 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Jalapeño or serrano pepper, minced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the ripe avocados in half lengthwise, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.
  2. Using a fork or potato masher, gently mash the avocado until creamy but still slightly chunky.
  3. Stir in 1/4 cup of sour cream or Greek yogurt to add creaminess.
  4. Squeeze in the juice of one lime (about 2 tablespoons) to add brightness and help prevent browning.
  5. Gently stir in the diced tomato, finely chopped red onion, minced garlic, and cilantro. Add jalapeño or serrano pepper if using, adjusting to heat preference.
  6. Season with salt, freshly ground black pepper, and cumin if using. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  7. Optional: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap pressed directly on the surface and refrigerate for 30 minutes to let flavors meld. Serve fresh or chilled.

Notes

Use ripe Hass avocados for best texture and flavor. Avoid over-mashing to prevent watery guacamole. Lime juice helps prevent browning. For dairy-free version, substitute sour cream with coconut or cashew-based yogurt or omit entirely. Make guacamole close to serving time or cover tightly with plastic wrap to keep fresh.
