  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Trim the asparagus by snapping off the tough woody ends or cutting about 1-2 inches from the bottom.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Whisk until well blended.
  4. Add the trimmed asparagus to the bowl and toss gently but thoroughly to coat each stalk evenly with the lemon butter mixture.
  5. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat if desired. Spread the asparagus in a single layer without overcrowding.
  6. Roast in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, shaking the pan halfway through, until asparagus is tender but still crisp and tips are slightly browned and crispy.
  7. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan over the hot asparagus to melt slightly.
