A quick and easy recipe for chocolate covered pretzels with a crunchy twist, perfect for any occasion and loved by kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Mini pretzel twists or rods (about 12 ounces)
  • 12 ounces (340 grams) high-quality semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 1/2 cup (50 grams) chopped roasted nuts (peanuts, almonds, or pecans) – optional
  • 1/3 cup (40 grams) crushed toffee bits – optional
  • Sprinkles or crushed pretzel pieces for extra texture – optional
  • Sea salt flakes for sprinkling on top – optional
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – optional

Instructions

  1. Prep your workspace by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat and have your toppings ready in small bowls.
  2. Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring well each time until smooth and glossy. Alternatively, melt using a double boiler over simmering water. Add vanilla extract if using.
  3. Dip each pretzel into the melted chocolate using a fork or dipping tool, coating fully or half-dipped as desired. Let excess chocolate drip off.
  4. Immediately sprinkle chosen crunchy toppings and sea salt flakes over the wet chocolate.
  5. Place dipped pretzels on the lined baking sheet and let them set at room temperature for 30-40 minutes or refrigerate for 15 minutes to speed up setting.
  6. Once set, store in an airtight container or serve.

Notes

Melt chocolate slowly in short bursts to avoid graininess. Use fresh pretzels for best crunch. Add a tiny splash of coconut oil or vegetable shortening if chocolate is too thick. Refrigerate briefly to speed setting but avoid condensation. Variations include white chocolate, spicy additions, nut-free toppings, and seasonal flavors.
