Fresh Strawberry Lemonade

fresh strawberry lemonade recipe - featured image

A quick and easy homemade drink combining fresh strawberries and freshly squeezed lemons for a refreshing summer beverage.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 46 lemons)
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes, as needed
  • Fresh mint leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place hulled and halved strawberries in a large bowl. Sprinkle granulated sugar over them and toss gently to coat. Let sit for about 10 minutes until juicy and soft.
  2. Transfer the macerated strawberries and their juice to a blender. Blend until smooth and vibrant red. For pulp-free lemonade, strain puree through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher.
  3. Juice fresh lemons until you have about 1 cup of lemon juice. Remove any seeds.
  4. Add lemon juice and cold water to the strawberry puree in the pitcher. Stir well to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness or water as needed.
  5. Add ice cubes to the pitcher or glasses. Garnish with fresh mint leaves or lemon slices if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh lemon juice for best flavor. Macerate strawberries with sugar to bring out natural juices. Adjust sweetness gradually. For a fizzy version, substitute sparkling water for still water before serving. Can be made ahead and chilled up to 4 hours before adding ice. Store leftovers in refrigerator up to 3 days.
