A refreshing and easy-to-make summer drink blending fresh watermelon, mint, lime, and a touch of sweetener for the ultimate thirst quencher.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups (900 grams) seedless, chopped watermelon
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, loosely packed, washed and stems removed
  • Juice of 2 limes (about 3 tablespoons)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or agave syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 2 cups (480 ml) cold water
  • Ice cubes, as needed for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut about 6 cups (900 grams) of seedless watermelon into chunks. Remove rind if blender is not powerful. (Prep time: 5 minutes)
  2. Add watermelon chunks and fresh mint leaves to the blender. Pulse a few times to break down the mint before blending fully. (Time: 1 minute)
  3. Pour in the juice of 2 limes and 2 tablespoons of honey or chosen sweetener. Blend until smooth and well combined. (Time: 30 seconds)
  4. Add 2 cups (480 ml) of cold water to the blender. Pulse a couple more times until mixed but still light. (Time: 15 seconds)
  5. Optional: Pour mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher to remove pulp and mint bits, pressing gently with a spoon. (Time: 2 minutes)
  6. Chill the agua fresca in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Serve over ice cubes, garnished with a sprig of mint and a thin lime wheel if desired.

Notes

Use organic watermelon and fresh mint for best flavor. Avoid over-blending mint to prevent bitterness. Straining is optional depending on texture preference. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving. Adjust sweetener based on watermelon sweetness. Frozen watermelon can be used but thaw slightly before blending.
