A quick and elegant cappuccino recipe featuring silky microfoam topped with tasteless edible glitter for a whimsical coffee experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 or 2 shots (about 3060 ml / 12 fl oz) freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee
  • 6 oz (180 ml) whole milk or preferred milk alternative (oat or almond milk recommended for dairy-free)
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar (adjust to taste, can substitute honey or maple syrup)
  • A pinch of food-safe, tasteless edible glitter (clear or soft pink shimmer recommended)

Instructions

  1. Brew 1 or 2 shots of espresso (30-60 ml / 1-2 fl oz) using an espresso machine or brew strong coffee concentrate. Pour into a cappuccino cup.
  2. Pour 6 oz (180 ml) cold milk into a frothing pitcher. Add ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon granulated sugar. Stir gently to combine.
  3. Froth the milk using a steam wand or handheld milk frother until it doubles in volume and achieves a silky microfoam texture, aiming for 140-150°F (60-65°C). This takes about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Slowly pour the steamed milk over the espresso, holding back the foam with a spoon. Then spoon the foam on top to create a thick, fluffy cap.
  5. Sprinkle a small pinch of edible glitter evenly over the foam, using a light hand to maintain sparkle without overwhelming shimmer.
  6. Optionally, dust cocoa powder or cinnamon around the edges for contrast. Serve immediately while foam is fresh and glitter shines.

Notes

Use fresh, cold milk for best foam. Avoid overheating milk to prevent brittle foam. Sprinkle edible glitter just before serving to keep sparkle fresh. Clean espresso machine regularly for best flavor and foam quality. For dairy-free, oat or almond milk works but foam may be lighter. Chill frothing pitcher for denser foam. If glitter clumps, sift lightly before sprinkling.
