perfect champagne cocktail recipe - featured image

A quick and elegant champagne cocktail combining crisp champagne, cognac, bitters, and a touch of sweetness, perfect for celebrations and special occasions.

Ingredients

  • Champagne or Sparkling Wine (750 ml / 25.4 fl oz)
  • Cognac or Brandy (1 ounce / 30 ml)
  • Angostura Bitters (2-3 dashes)
  • Sugar Cube (1 per cocktail)
  • Fresh Lemon or Orange Peel (for garnish)
  • Optional: Fresh Berries (like raspberries or blackberries)
  • Optional: Flavored Syrups (like elderflower or lavender, 1 teaspoon)
  • Optional: Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine or sparkling grape juice (for mocktail version)

Instructions

  1. Chill your champagne flutes in the fridge or freezer for about 15 minutes before mixing.
  2. Place one sugar cube at the bottom of each chilled flute.
  3. Add 2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters directly onto the sugar cube.
  4. Measure 1 ounce (30 ml) of cognac or brandy and pour it over the sugar cube and bitters.
  5. Slowly pour 4-5 ounces (120-150 ml) of chilled champagne or sparkling wine into the flute, pouring gently down the side to preserve bubbles.
  6. Twist a strip of fresh lemon or orange peel over the glass to release oils, then drop it in as garnish. Optionally, add a fresh berry on a cocktail pick.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Chill glasses before serving to keep bubbles lively. Pour champagne slowly down the side of the glass to preserve carbonation. Avoid overdoing bitters to prevent overpowering the drink. Use brut or extra dry champagne for best balance. Sugar cube can be substituted with half a teaspoon of simple syrup or honey if needed.
