A quick and easy recipe for broiled lobster tails with a rich garlic butter sauce paired with tender, crisp asparagus. Perfect for a special occasion or a comforting weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 lobster tails (46 oz / 115170 g each, fresh or thawed frozen)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (60 g, melted)
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 bunch asparagus spears (about 1 lb / 450 g), trimmed and washed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Using kitchen shears, carefully cut down the top shell of each lobster tail lengthwise, stopping just before the tail fan. Gently pry the shell open and lift the exposed meat, resting it on top of the shell (piggybacking).
  3. In a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter. Stir in the minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Let it sit for a few minutes to infuse the butter with garlic flavor.
  4. Brush the exposed lobster meat generously with the garlic butter using a pastry brush. Sprinkle paprika over the tails if using.
  5. Trim the woody ends of the asparagus and arrange the spears on one side of a baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
  6. Place the prepared lobster tails shell-side down next to the asparagus on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the lobster meat is opaque and firm to the touch and the asparagus is tender but still crisp. Optionally, brush the lobster tails with reserved garlic butter halfway through baking for extra richness.
  8. After removing from the oven, brush the lobster tails one last time with garlic butter for shine and flavor.
  9. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

Use kitchen shears carefully to cut lobster shells. Melt butter low and slow to avoid burning garlic. Brush lobster tails with garlic butter halfway through baking for extra flavor. Avoid overcooking lobster to prevent rubbery texture. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated gently.
