A quick and easy homemade peach iced tea recipe perfect for hot summer days, combining fresh peach puree with black tea and a hint of lemon for a refreshing, crowd-pleasing drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 black tea bags
  • 3 medium fresh ripe peaches (white or yellow)
  • 1/3 cup (65 grams) granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 6 cups (1.4 liters) water, divided
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: fresh mint leaves for garnish
  • Optional: a pinch of cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups (950 ml) of water to a rolling boil in a kettle or pot (about 5 minutes).
  2. Place the 4 black tea bags into a large teapot or heatproof pitcher. Pour the boiling water over the tea bags and steep for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and gently squeeze them against the side to extract flavor.
  3. While the tea steeps, wash, pit, and cut the peaches into chunks. Blend until smooth (1-2 minutes). For a smoother tea, strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve.
  4. While the tea is still warm, stir in 1/3 cup (65 grams) granulated sugar until dissolved.
  5. Stir the peach puree and 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice into the sweetened tea. Add 2 cups (475 ml) cold water to dilute. Mix well.
  6. Refrigerate the peach iced tea for at least 1 hour to chill and meld flavors.
  7. Serve over plenty of ice cubes. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.

Notes

Do not over-steep the tea to avoid bitterness; steep for exactly 5 minutes. Use ripe peaches for best flavor. Add sugar while tea is warm to dissolve fully. Chill for at least 1 hour for best taste. Adjust sweetness or strength after chilling with water or lemon juice. Frozen peaches can be used if fresh are unavailable. For caffeine-free versions, substitute black tea with rooibos or hibiscus tea.
