A warm, buttery, cinnamon-scented pull-apart bread shaped like a Christmas tree. Made with refrigerated biscuit dough, it’s quick, easy, and perfect for holiday brunch or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (16.3 oz each) refrigerated biscuit dough (like Pillsbury Grands! Homestyle or Buttermilk)
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring (a few drops, optional)
  • Red sprinkles or cinnamon candies (for decorating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using). Set aside.
  3. Open both cans of biscuit dough. Separate each biscuit (16 total). Cut each biscuit into quarters (64 pieces).
  4. Melt the butter. Working in batches, dip each dough piece into melted butter, letting excess drip off, then toss in cinnamon sugar mixture until well coated.
  5. Arrange coated dough pieces on prepared baking sheet in a Christmas tree shape: start with one piece at the top, then create rows below, each row slightly wider. Leave space between pieces. Place a few pieces vertically at the bottom for the trunk.
  6. Bake for 18-22 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. If browning too quickly, tent loosely with foil for last 5 minutes.
  7. While bread bakes, make glaze: whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add green food coloring if desired.
  8. Let bread cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes. Transfer to serving plate or wire rack. Drizzle glaze over warm bread. Sprinkle with red sprinkles or cinnamon candies while glaze is wet.
  9. Serve warm. Pull apart pieces with hands or cut with a serrated knife.

Notes

Don’t overwork the dough. Use room temperature butter for easier brushing. Make sure every piece is coated. Watch baking time to avoid overbaking. Let bread cool 5 minutes before glazing. For best results, serve warm.
