A velvety, hands-off white hot chocolate made in the slow cooker with real white chocolate, peppermint extract, and a touch of sweetened condensed milk. Perfect for cozy winter nights or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces white chocolate chips (e.g., Ghirardelli or Guittard)
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • Optional garnishes: whipped cream, crushed candy canes, white chocolate shavings, or melted dark chocolate

Instructions

  1. Add the white chocolate chips to the slow cooker, spreading them in an even layer across the bottom.
  2. Pour in the milk and heavy cream. Do not stir yet.
  3. Add the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, peppermint extract, and salt.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 1.5 to 2 hours. Do not cook on high.
  5. Whisk everything together until the white chocolate is fully melted and incorporated. If not melted, cover and cook for another 15 to 30 minutes, then whisk again.
  6. Taste and adjust: add more peppermint extract (1/4 teaspoon at a time) or salt if needed.
  7. Switch the slow cooker to the WARM setting for serving. It will stay good for 2 to 3 hours.
  8. Ladle into mugs and garnish as desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use good-quality white chocolate chips for best results. Start with 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract and add more to taste. If the drink thickens on warm, stir in a splash of milk. For a dairy-free version, use oat milk and dairy-free white chocolate chips.
