This creamy, spicy buffalo chicken dip features a fun spider web design that looks impressive but comes together in under 20 minutes. Perfect for game day, Halloween parties, or any gathering where you need a showstopper snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded (rotisserie, canned, or leftover)
  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (such as sriracha, for the web)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 tablespoon ranch dressing mix (such as Hidden Valley)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Soften cream cheese in a microwave-safe bowl for 20-30 seconds until pliable.
  3. Add shredded chicken, 1/2 cup buffalo sauce, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar, ranch dressing mix, and garlic powder to the cream cheese. Stir until well combined.
  4. Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. Transfer mixture to a greased 8×8-inch baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup shredded cheddar over the top.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes until hot and bubbly. (Alternatively, microwave on high for 2-3 minutes, stirring halfway.)
  8. While dip bakes, mix sour cream and hot sauce in a small bowl. Transfer to a squeeze bottle or zip-top bag.
  9. Let baked dip cool for 2 minutes.
  10. Pipe a small circle of sour cream mixture in the center, then pipe concentric circles around it, spacing about 1 inch apart (4-5 circles total).
  11. Using a toothpick or skewer, start from the center and drag outward through all circles to the edge. Repeat every 1-2 inches around the dip to create a spider web pattern. Wipe toothpick clean between each drag.
  12. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, celery sticks, carrot sticks, or crusty bread.

Notes

For best spider web effect, let dip cool exactly 2 minutes before piping sour cream. Use gentle, shallow strokes when dragging toothpick. Prep dip base a day ahead and bake fresh before serving. Dip thickens as it cools; keep warm in a slow cooker if serving at a party.
