A quick and easy honey soy glazed salmon paired with crunchy sesame bok choy, perfect for a fuss-free and satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (6 ounces / 170 grams each), skin-on for crispiness
  • 2 tablespoons honey (raw or wildflower honey works well)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium if preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil (for cooking salmon)
  • Sesame seeds, toasted (for garnish)
  • 2 heads baby bok choy, halved lengthwise
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or neutral oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (for bok choy)
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce (for bok choy)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (for bok choy)
  • Pinch of salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glaze by whisking together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and minced garlic in a small bowl until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels and lightly season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Place salmon fillets skin side down and cook for 4-5 minutes without moving.
  4. Flip the fillets carefully and cook for another 2 minutes.
  5. Pour the honey soy glaze over the salmon fillets in the pan. Spoon the glaze repeatedly over the top as it bubbles and thickens for 1-2 minutes, reducing heat if necessary to avoid burning.
  6. While glazing salmon, heat vegetable oil in a separate pan over medium-high heat. Add halved bok choy cut side down and sear for 2 minutes until golden and slightly wilted.
  7. Flip bok choy and cook another 1-2 minutes. Drizzle with sesame oil and soy sauce, toss gently, then sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
  8. Transfer salmon fillets to plates, spoon any remaining glaze on top, and serve alongside sesame bok choy. Garnish with extra sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before cooking for crispy skin. Watch glaze closely to avoid burning honey. Cook bok choy quickly to keep it crisp-tender. Start bok choy after flipping salmon to finish cooking simultaneously. For gluten-free, substitute tamari for soy sauce. Optional chili flakes add a spicy twist.
