A quick and easy one-pan recipe featuring bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs glazed with a sticky honey garlic sauce, roasted alongside crisp-tender green beans. Perfect for busy weeknights with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 3 pounds / 1.4 kg)
  • 12 ounces (340 g) fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1/4 cup (85 g) honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (preferably low-sodium)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides with 1/2 teaspoon salt and black pepper.
  3. Heat an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Once shimmering, add the chicken thighs skin-side down.
  4. Sear the chicken without moving for 5-7 minutes until the skin is deeply golden and crispy. Flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes to brown the other side. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
  5. Lower heat to medium, add remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil, then add minced garlic and red pepper flakes if using. Stir for 30 seconds until fragrant but not burnt.
  6. Add honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar to the skillet. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes until the mixture bubbles and slightly thickens.
  7. Toss the trimmed green beans into the sauce, stirring to coat evenly. Season with the remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  8. Return the seared chicken thighs skin-side up into the skillet nestling them into the green beans. Spoon some sauce over the chicken.
  9. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and roast for 15-18 minutes, or until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and green beans are tender-crisp.
  10. Remove skillet from oven, spoon the thickened sauce over the chicken and beans again, and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Pat chicken dry for crispy skin. Use bone-in, skin-on thighs for best texture. Watch garlic closely to avoid burning. Rest chicken before serving to keep it juicy. Can substitute green beans with asparagus, broccoli, or snap peas. For gluten-free, use tamari or coconut aminos instead of soy sauce. For low-carb, replace honey with sugar-free syrup or erythritol.
