This quick apple cider sangria with cinnamon sticks is the perfect fall drink that comes together in under 5 minutes. It’s a crowd-pleaser that tastes like it took all day to make, with simple ingredients like apple cider, white wine, and cinnamon sticks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (950 ml) apple cider
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (such as Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 34 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 large apple (such as Honeycrisp or Fuji), thinly sliced
  • 1 medium orange, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • Ice cubes (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Slice the fruit: Wash the apple and orange. Slice the apple into thin rounds or half-moons (about 1/4 inch thick). Slice the orange into thin rounds. Set aside.
  2. Pour the apple cider into a large pitcher (2-quart capacity). If using honey or maple syrup, add it now and stir until dissolved.
  3. Add the wine: Open the bottle of white wine and pour it into the pitcher. Stir gently with a wooden spoon.
  4. Drop in the cinnamon sticks: Add 3-4 cinnamon sticks to the pitcher, pushing them down so they are submerged.
  5. Add the fruit: Gently drop in the sliced apple and orange. Stir once more.
  6. Chill: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (2-4 hours is better for deeper flavor).
  7. Serve: Fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the sangria over the ice, making sure to include some fruit and a cinnamon stick in each glass.

Notes

For best flavor, use fresh unfiltered apple cider and a dry white wine. The sangria gets better as it sits; make it a day ahead for deeper flavor. Remove fruit slices after 24 hours if storing longer. Do not add ice to the pitcher to avoid dilution. For a non-alcoholic version, substitute wine with sparkling apple cider or ginger ale.
